Solution
Overview:
Requirements can exist in some environments where messages from specific SMTP addresses or domains need to be excluded from any Enterprise Vault (EV) Compliance Accelerator (CA) search results. CA has the option of entering free form SMTP addresses into certain search criteria. SMTP addresses and / or domains can also be excluded using the same free form address entry field.

CA has the option of entering free form SMTP addresses into certain search criteria. SMTP addresses and / or domains can also be excluded using the same free form address entry field.
Solution:
This issue has been resolved in the following release:
Enterprise Vault 9.0.3
Note: This solution has been found to not work in every instance of its use. The steps below are not guaranteed to work for every customer. The cause of this solution not working properly is under investigation.
For CA 8.x and 9.x
1) Open the CA Client
2) Click on the Departments tab if the search is to be created within a specific Department, or on the Application tab if creating an Application level search
3) If configuring a Department search, click on the Department for which the search is to run in the left pane
4) Click the New Search button
5) Enter a name for the search in the Name: field
6) Select the appropriate search type in the Search Type: field
7) Specify the Sampling needed as appropriate in the Sampling section
8) Specify the date range for the search in the Date range section

4) Click the New Search button
5) Enter a name for the search in the Name: field
6) Select the appropriate search type in the Search Type: field
7) Specify the Sampling needed as appropriate in the Sampling section
8) Specify the date range for the search in the Date range section
Note that an open date range can be used if needed
9) Specify any of the following Message Route: options
- To or From other searchable departments
- From other searchable departments
- To other searchable department
10) Enter into the Freeform email addresses / domain field the SMTP addresses to be excluded, each with the exclusion mark (the dash or minus sign), all in the same line separated by a single space
For example
-userID1@mydomain.local -@thisdomain.local -userid20@theirdomain.local -@thatdomain.local
11) Populate the Search terms, Attachments, Miscellaneous and / or Policies sections as needed
12) Click the Save button to run an immediate search or to save a scheduled search to run on the selected schedule.
