Robot inventory fails and tape drive is in AVR control

Error

missing path

Solution

Upgraded firmware on the HP MSL8096 robot to match the version listed in the NetBackup 6.x Hardware Compatibility Matrix.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS:

Device Monitor in the NetBackup GUI showed missing path for the robot.

Looked at Windows Device Manager
Under medium changers could see the robot.
Unloaded the robot driver then re-scanned for new hardware.

Ran these commands from volmgr\bin

scan -changer
tpautoconf -r

Both command outputs showed the robot.

Used the "Configure Storage Devices" wizard but after scanning, the error showed "missing path", and the robot inventory failed again.

Verified name and IP resolution was correct and the master could resolve its virtual name, and the name and IP address of each node in the cluster.
