Backup of the SQL database fails with the error "Database query failure"


Error



An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of Microsoft SQL Server. Database Query failure. See the job log for details.

The Backup exec debug log on the SQL server shows the following error:
SQL Error Description: Login failed for user 'Domain\administrator'. Reason: The account is disabled.
 
NOTE: The above error may also occur while selecting the database in the backup selections.

Cause



Backup of SQL database may fail with the above mentioned error message if the Default logon account used to connect to the SQL server has been disabled in the SQL server Logins. 


 

Solution




1. To resolve the issue enable the User account in SQL server login and try the backup/selection again.
