The Exchange Information Store selection is no longer visible in the backup selection for a Windows 2008 /Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) setup after installing the Backup Exec 12.5 Hotfix 329071 or the Backup Exec 12.5 Service Pack 3.


Solution



After installing the Backup Exec 12.5 Hotfix 329071 or the Backup Exec 12.5 Service Pack 3 and updating the Remote Agent installation on the Exchange 2007 server nodes in a CCR setup on Windows 2008, the Exchange Information Store selection is no longer visible in the backup selections for the Virtual Node.

The Backup Exec Remote Agent debug log from the Active node reports the following error:
 
[3352] 10/30/09 17:06:41 GetStorageGroups returned 80070005 -> ERROR! E2007 ValidCredentials indicates user does not have required credentials
 
[3352] 10/30/09 17:06:41 E2007 GetStorageGroups failed with hr = 0x80070005 for machine = NULL

RESOLUTION:
 
This issue has been resolved by way of a hotfix in Backup Exec version 12.5. Please refer the Related Documents section below for more information.
 

 
WORKAROUND:
 
  • When Hotfix 329071 is installed:
1. Uninstall the Remote Agent from the Exchange 2007 server nodes.
 
2. Copy the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64 folder from the Backup Exec server to the root of C:\ on the Exchange server nodes.
 
3. Delete the "RAWSx642213RHF329071.msp" in the C:\RAWSX64\UPDATES folder on the Exchange server nodes and run the "setupaax64.cmd" to install the Remote Agent.
 
4. Once the Remote Agent is installed successfully, browse to the Exchange CCR Virtual Node and verify the Information Store selection is now visible.
 
Note: If Backup Exec program is installed on the Exchange nodes itself, then uninstall the Hotfix 329071 from the nodes using the Add Remove Programs console.
 
  • When Service Pack 3 is installed:
1. Uninstall the Remote Agent from the Exchange 2007 server nodes.
 
2. Copy the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64 folder from the Backup Exec server to the root of C:\ on the Exchange server nodes.
 
3. Delete the "RAWSx6422213RSP3.msp" and "RAWSx642213RHF329071.msp" in the C:\RAWSX64\UPDATES folder on the Exchange server nodes and run the "setupaax64.cmd" to install the Remote Agent.
 
4. Once the Remote Agent is installed successfully, browse to the Exchange CCR Virtual Node and verify the Information Store selection is now visible.
 
Note: If Backup Exec program is installed on the Exchange nodes itself, then uninstall Service Pack 3 from the nodes using the Add Remove Programs console
