"At least one service or driver failed during system startup" could be displayed after uninstalling Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems


Error



Application popup: Service Control Manager : At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.


Cause



"At least one service or driver failed during system startup" could be displayed after uninstalling Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems (RAWS.)  This message would pop up only after uninstalling 32bit version of RAWS which was from the Service Pack 2 or the Service Pack 3.


Solution



Workaround:

Manually delete the next registry keys.

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BackupExecAgentAccelerator
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows

This issue has been resolved in Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 12.5 with Hotfix 346104. See related documents.
