Issue

Unable to browse the file system when using the Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS) on a Solaris Server running in a virtual environment (VMware).

Error

If RALUS is put into debug mode, the following output can be seen in the RALUS debug log.
Refer the related document to set the RALUS in debug mode.

Date and Timestamp : vx_stat_by_name: Getting stat of /hgfs
Date and Timestamp : Function vfmStatFileName, VxMS resolved the error code to this message:  object not claimed by any plugin
Date and Timestamp: vx_stat: objname is /hgfs returned 2059
Date and Timestamp :  FillinDTA: stat of /hgfs failed.  ret=-536836984

The above error is seen if /hgfs file system is selected for backup.

Cause

More about HGFS file system:

VMware provides a special file system that allows the host and guest operating system to share a folder. This is called the Host-Guest File System (HGFS).This file system cannot be parsed by RALUS Agent.
When using the Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS) on a Solaris server, it is not possible to browse and make selections. 'None' appears when selecting [ROOT].

Solution

Unmount the /hgfs mount point and then try to browse the Linux server selections.
Login to Solaris system with root account and run the following command.
# umount /hgfs
To see the currently mounted volume
# mount
