The following are important aspects of the Backup Exec services:
  • Is the Backup Exec Remote Agent service running as LocalSystem?
  • Is the Backup Exec Service Account part of the Local or Domain Administrators group?
  • Does the Backup Exec Service Account have appropriate permissions/privileges to run correctly?
    • Create token object
    • Log on as a batch job
    • Log on as a service
    • Manage auditing and security
    • Act as part of the operating system
Proper user rights are required for the Backup Exec services to perform remote backup operations and for the services to start.
