Manager (tm) 5.0 RP5 and later for HP-UX 11iv3

Note:
1. Please
download the patch "5.0GARP5" for Volume Manager 5.0 on HPUX 11.31
from Symantec's VIAS site for the ASL and APM to function correctly.
2. On top of
5.0GARP5 patch, hotfix "5.0RP5HF1a" or later needs to be
installed
3. VxFEN
hotfix, "VxFEN-5.0RP2HF1" is required for fencing to work
properly
4. On SUN
ST6780/6580 array the Host mode should be set to HPTPGS
5. Minimum
array firmware version required: 07:50:13:00
6. Disable
HP-UX 11iv3 Native Multi-Pathing ALUA mode for Storage Foundation 5.0. Refer to
the TechNote 330779 (link provided in the Related Documents section) for
disabling Native Multi Pathing ALUA mode.
Installation
Instructions:
1. Create a
directory to download the ASL-APM package
#
mkdir /tmp/asl_apm
#
cd /tmp/asl_apm
2. At the
bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL-APM
package
3. After
downloading VRTSLSIALUAasl_apm_HP11iv3_vm5.0_v2.tar_339355.gz, verify the
checksum of the file

4. Uncompress
the file and extract the packages

gunzip VRTSLSIALUAasl_apm_HP11iv3_vm5.0_v2.tar_339355.gz

tar xvf VRTSLSIALUAasl_apm_HP11iv3_vm5.0_v2.tar_339355
5. Before
adding any package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and
enabled
#
vxdctl mode

enabled
6. Install the
ASL as follows:
#
swinstall -s `pwd`/asl VRTSLSIALUAasl
7. Install the
APM as follows:
#
swinstall -s `pwd`/apm VRTSLSIALUAapm
8. After the
packages are installed, you must execute the vxdctl
enable command to claim the disk array
#
vxdctl enable
Note: In some
cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take
effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim
the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute
the vxconfigd -k command in addition to
vxdctl enable.
9. After
executing vxdctl enable, verify the
output of the vxddladm listsupport
command

11. Also verify
the output of vxdmpadm listapm command.
The APM should be in Active state.
