Problem
You installed Norton AntiVirus for Microsoft Exchange (NAVMSE) 2.1.4 to your Exchange server. When you attempt to start NAVMSE in MAPI only or in MAPI/VAPI combination mode, the startup fails, and you see the error message "NAVEAP.EXE exception access violation(0xc0000005), address
The service starts correctly in VAPI only mode when using Exchange 5.5.
Solution
The error that causes the "NAVEAP.EXE exception..." message was corrected in NAVMSE 2.16. See the document How to obtain an update or an upgrade for your Symantec Corporate product for further information.
