Issue

You need to enable the Purge Agent in the Navlog.nsf or Savlog.nsf databases for one of these products:
--Norton AntiVirus for Lotus Notes 2.x (NAV Notes)
--Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.0 for Domino on Windows NT/2000 (AV/F for Domino)
--Symantec Mail Security 4.0 for Domino.

When you try to enable the Purge Agent in NAV Notes or AV/F for Domino, a message appears informing you that the ID used to sign the Purge Agent has insufficient rights. You want to know how to configure rights correctly to use the Purge Agent.

Solution

This page assumes that you have signed the Symantec databases with a user ID and have placed the ID on the workstation Execution Control List (ECL). The Purge Agent requires the right to run unrestricted LotusScript/Java agents (Domino 5.x) or run unrestricted Methods and Operations (Domino 6.x and higher).

If the databases have not been signed, read the document How to sign Norton AntiVirus for Lotus Notes 2.x or Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.0 for Domino on Windows NT/2000 databases.

If the databases have been signed, but they were signed by an account that either does not appear in the workstation ECL or lacks the right to run unrestricted LotusScript/Java agents, read the document Best practices for Symantec products in the Lotus Domino environment - Installation.

The Purge Agent is now active.
  7. Repeat Steps 1-6 to enable the Purge Agent on additional servers, as needed.

Note: If you are planning to replicate the Log database to other servers using Pull-Push replication, you do not need to enable the Purge Agent on more than one server.
