You have Norton AntiVirus for Lotus Notes 2.5.1 (NAV Notes) or Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.0 for Domino on UNIX (AV/F for Domino) installed on your Domino cluster with cluster replication enabled. Replication of NAV Notes databases causes some documents to be deleted.
Problems with cluster replication and Norton AntiVirus for Lotus Notes 2.5.1 or Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.0 for Domino on UNIX You have Norton AntiVirus for Lotus Notes 2.5.1 (NAV Notes) or Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.0 for Domino on UNIX (AV/F for Domino) installed on your Domino cluster with cluster replication enabled. Replication of NAV Notes databases causes some documents to be deleted.
NAV Notes 2.5.1 or AV/F for Domino on UNIX databases should not be cluster replicated. When a NAV Notes or AV/F for Domino UNIX product is installed on a Domino server cluster, replication needs to be disabled.
To disable cluster replication
- In the Domino Administrator, make sure you are on the server that you want to make this change.
- Click the btab
- Click the subdirectory NAV
- Highlight all databases under this subdirectory by clicking the first database, hold down the shift key, and then click the last database. This should highlight all databases listed. There should be 3 or 4 databases.
- Click the Tools section on the right of the administration client
- Click the Database section to expand
- Click Cluster
- At the bottom of the dialog box that appears, you should see "Please select cluster replication status" Enable or Disable cluster replication. Select "Disable cluster replication"
- Click on OK
This turns off cluster replication for these database.
Some NAV Notes 2.5.1 databases include a replication formula to replicate only certain documents to other servers. Lotus Domino cluster replication ignores any replication formula on a database and just replicates everything.
The following is an excerpt from the Lotus/Domino R5 Help database explaining cluster replication:
"The Cluster Replicator leaves the processing of replication formulas to the standard replicator. Because these formulas can use a lot of processing power, they are not processed by the Cluster Replicator in order to minimize the overhead of using cluster replication. If you use selective replication, therefore, a database may temporarily include documents that do not match the selection formula. Domino deletes these documents when you run standard replication.
In addition, the Cluster Replicator does not honor the settings on the Advanced panel in the Replication Settings dialog box. Therefore, you cannot disable the replication of specific elements of a database, such as the ACL, agents, and design elements. The Cluster replicator always attempts to make all replicas identical so that users who fail over do not notice that they failed over."
WARNING: Standard replication cannot automatically remove changes to specific database elements, such as the ACL, agents, or design elements. If limiting the replication of these items is important for a database, consider using only standard replication, not cluster replication, with that database."
