Viewing and exporting the full email header information in Lotus Notes

Problem
This page describes how to view and export the full email header in Lotus Notes. This information is usefull for quarantined email or for tracking spam email back to their source.
Solution
The Lotus Notes Client can view and export the full email header. The following are two methods that allow viewing of email header information.
To export and view email headers
- Do one of the following:
- Open the NAV Log Database for Norton AntiVirus for Notes versions 2.5 or earlier.
- Open the SAV Quarantine Database for Symantec AntiVirus 3.x for Domino or newer.
- Select the quarantined email. Do not open.
- On the File menu, click Export.
- In the File Name box, type
- In the Save as type box, from the drop-down menu, select ASCII Text .
- Click Export.
- Note the location where the exported file is saved.
- Open Notepad.
- On the File menu, click Open.
- In the File name box, type
whereis the path and file name that you noted in step 7.
To view email headers
- Do one of the following:
- Open the NAV Log Database for Norton AntiVirus for Notes versions 2.5 or earlier
- Open the SAV Quarantine Database for Symantec AntiVirus 3.x for Domino or newer
- Right-click Document Properties on a quarantined email.
- In the Properties box, click the tab with a triangle (representing fields).
- In the left pane, click any of the email header fields. The properties for the field appear in the right pane and display the information on that field. The following is a partial list of email fields:
