Solution
To solve this problem
- Make sure the product license is installed before continuing.
- Uninstall the Symantec product using Add/Remove Programs.
- Delete the savsmtp.cfg or smssmtp.cfg.
- Reinstall the Symantec product.
- Configure the installation as a new installation. Do not reuse the information from the previous configuration. This will cause the problem to recur.
A corrupted SMSSMTP.cfg file can cause these problems. The problem occurs when the email scanner cannot process some email appropriately. The following is an example of two Scan error entries ( 1 and 2) showing the Info: lines.
Scan error 1
"Info: Invalid policy Info2: Generic"
Scan error 2
"Info: Address or content not allowed. Info2: Invalid policy"
