How does the "/etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config/.stale" file get created.

Solution

VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) will create a ".stale" file in "/etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config/" if the VCS database was open ("haconf -makerw") and "hastop" was executed.  To prevent this from happening run "haconf -dump -makero" before stopping the cluster.

When the configuration is marked stale on a system, VCS will not automatically build a cluster on that system.  If the cluster is visible in Stale Admin Wait run the command "hasys -force <system name>" to force VCS to build the configuration.
