You need to know how to disable Symantec Premium AntiSpam in Symantec Mail Security 4.1 for SMTP.


Solution



To disable Symantec Premium AntiSpam
  1. Stop the Symantec Mail Security Service.
    Windows
    Open Administrative Tools, open Services, right click Symantec Mail Security Service > Stop.

    Solaris
    Open a command line and type:
    /etc/init.d/smssmtp stop
  2. Delete the Premium AntiSpam license in the shared folder.
    Windows
    C:\program files\common files\Symantec Shared\Licenses

    Open the license file (.slf) in an editor that does not modify the file, like Wordpad. Remove all lines that mention "Symantec Premium AntiSpam"

    Solaris
    /opt/Symantec/Licenses

    At a command line type:
    grep -H Premium *.slf

    This command identifies the file that contains "Symantec Premium AntiSpam" Delete all files that contain "Symantec Premium AntiSpam"
  3. Delete the registerbeik.slf file.
    Windows
    C:\Program files\Symantec\smssmtp\csapi\bmi\registerbeik.slf

    Solaris
    /opt/Symantec/smssmpt/csapi/bin/registerbeik.slf
  4. Restart the Symantec Mail Security server.
    The service is restarted also.
