Problem
You have Symantec Mail Security for SMTP 5.0.x installed on the same machine as Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (SAVCE) version 10.0 or 10.1.
To insure the proper functionality of both programs and to avoid problems caused by scanning mail filtering and database directories, you want to know what folders to exclude from the local antivirus scanning.
NOTE: Both SAV CE 10 and SMS SMTP 5 have reached the end of standard support. Please look into other Symantec email solutions to receive full support and the best experience with the product.
Solution
The directories needed to exclude from antivirus filtering are:
1. <drive>
2. <drive>
3. <drive>:\Windows\temp directory.
The item: <drive>

In the event of an administrator scheduled scan it should be configured properly on SSC to exclude the folders mentioned in this document to avoid problems. There is no means of including exclusions on startup, defwatch or quickscans.
