You repeatedly see the same error repeated in your MTA logs "Warning: queue_minfree(# in bytes) should be at least 1.5*message_size_limit(number in bytes)" You have a Symantec Mail Security 8200 Series or Symantec Mail Security 8300 Series appliance in your network.
By default the "message_size_limit" is set at 10485760 bytes. In some cases it is necessary to change the size of the maximum message size to accommodate your mail traffic. This change is necessary when the maximum size of your message queue is less than 1.5 times your maximum message size. The resolution is to lower the maximum size of messages you can receive.
To change the setting for message_size limit
- In the Symantec Mail Security user interface, under settings click Hosts.
- Select the Host that gives the error, by clicking on the Host name.
An alternative is to check the box next to the host and click Edit button.
- Click the SMTP tab.
- Click on the Advanced button.
- In the Maximum message size field type a new value.
This value should be less than 1.5 time the value for message_size-limit in the MTA error.
