Environment

Issue



Scan Engine fails to scan a file. Logs contain message "unable to bind to port xxxx".

Symptoms
In Application Logs of Windows Event Viewer, one or more events contain message "unable to bind to port xxxx".

  • Results of netstat -anb fail to show any activity on that port.


Conditions

  • Scan engine is configured to use Native or ICAP protocol.
  • Scan Engine is installed on Windows 2003 Enterprise Server.



 


Solution



In the web interface, click Configuration > Protocol.

  1. Remove the contents of the field "Scan Engine bind address".
  2. Click Confirm changes.
  3. Restart the Scan Engine service.
