You have seen the File Name Warning pictured below. The Symantec Mail Security Home page is incomplete. You see additional errors when installing or using Symantec Mail Security.
The errors you see depend on what version of Symantec Mail Security for Exchange is installed.
- Symantec Mail Security 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange:
"Failed starting Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Service."
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."
- Symantec Mail Security 5.0 for Microsoft Exchange:
"A fatal error has occurred. The application will now close."
- Symantec Mail Security 4.6 for Microsoft Exchange:
"Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange could not be started."
"Could not start the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange service on local computer. error 193: 0xc1"
You may also see events in the Application Event log that list Symantec Mail Security Managed Components as the source.
A file or folder named 'program' located on the C: drive causes this error.
This problem is fixed in Symantec Mail Security 6.5.1 for Microsoft Exchange. To download the latest release, read Obtaining an update or an upgrade for a Symantec Corporate product.
Rename or delete the "C:\Program" file or folder.
