Issue

Unable to add a Microsoft SharePoint farm to Backup Exec: None of the Web servers for the specified server farm could be accessed.

Error

 "None of the Web servers for the specified server could be accessed."

The SPSwrapper debug log will show the following error:

::Build Farm Topology
  Start
Inside SPIsThisServerAWebService()
Returning False from SPIsThisServerAWebService()

Cause

This issue is normally caused by the Web servers' System Environmental Machine name not matching the SPWebservice instance name.

Example:
System.Environment.Machinename = MOSSWEB

SPWebService name = MOSWEB

These two names must match so that Backup Exec can access the Microsoft SharePoint farm.

The System.Environment.Machinename is the server name that can be accessed via the server system information

The SPWebService name can be accessed by logging into the SharePoint Administration site and checking the "Servers in Farm" under Operations - Topology and Services

NOTE: This error can be caused by other environmental SharePoint issues including if the Web Application is in an upgrading status.

Solution

This error indicates a configuration problem within Sharepoint.  The web server name must be corrected within Sharepoint in order for the SPSWrapper process to properly communicate with and enumerate the resources of Sharepoint.  For further assistance with Sharepoint configuration issues, please consult Microsoft support.
