Inventory job hangs, backup job sits in "queued" status

Solution

Issue:
- An inventory job hangs indefinitely in a running status
- A backup job goes into a queued state indefinitely

Possible Symptoms:
- In the devices tab in Backup Exec, the tape drive will flash "in use" rather than a solid "in use" notification.
- Tracer shows the following check conditions;
----------------------------------------------------------------
CDB Operation - MOVE_MEDIUM
Sense key - ILLEGAL_REQUEST
ASC - SEQUENTIAL_POSITIONING_ERROR
ASCQ - MEDIUM_DESTINATION_ELEMENT_FULL
----------------------------------------------------------------
CDB Operation - TEST_UNIT_READY
Sense key - NOT_READY
ASC - LOGICAL_UNIT_NOT_READY
ASCQ - LOGICAL_UNIT_NOT_READY_INITIALIZING_CMD_REQUIRED
----------------------------------------------------------------

Resolution;
Use the library GUI (web interface, if available) to view the number of tapes loaded in each slot and drive(s).  If all slots AND the drive have media in them a tape must be removed to allow for the library to move the tapes from the slots to the drive(s).

Example: Library with 8 slots can only hold a maximum of 8 tapes.
