When moving the database following the instructions on page 184 Solaris 185 Windows of the Admin Guide http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH56248  causes the customer to miss the step of changing the pointer in the databases.conf file and registry pointer as well as instructions for solaris. Thus unable to detect correct DB.

Solution

To relocate the CommandCentral database on Solaris

IMP Note: If user has moved the CCS database to a new location and wants to upgrade the existing CCS5.0GA or CCS5.0GA_RPx or CCS5.0MP1 or CCS5.0MP1_RPX to CC 5.1 please contact Symantec support for assistance.

Note: Below procedure is for system having database installed in default path. Appropriate changes will be required in step 3 if database is installed in other than default path.

1. Stop all Symantec CommandCentral Storage and associated processes, by typing the following command:

/opt/VRTS/bin/vxccs stop -force

2. Take a backup of below files -
cp /etc/VRTSccs/ccs.conf /<Some location>/ccs.conf.bk
cp /etc/vxdbms/VERITAS_DBMS3_<hostname>/conf/databases.conf /<Some location>/databases.conf.bk

3. Move the active database files to the desired directory. The new database directory should not contain any files other than the database files you moved there.

For example:

mv /var/VRTSccs/database/ccstor.db /my_new_dir/.

mv /var/VRTSccs/database/ccstordm.db /my_new_dir/.

4. Edit /etc/VRTSccs/ccs.conf to do below changes
eg:
DBDIR=/my_new_dir
Note: New location should be the complete directory path where .db files reside.

5. Edit /etc/vxdbms/VERITAS_DBMS3_<hostname>/conf/databases.conf to update the new location of .db files.

6. Start all Symantec CommandCentral Storage and associated processes, by typing the following command:

/opt/VRTS/bin/vxccs start

IMP Note: If user has moved the CCS database to a new location and wants to upgrade the existing CCS5.0GA or CCS5.0GA_RPx or CCS5.0MP1 or CCS5.0MP1_RPX to CC 5.1 please contact Symantec support for assistance.

Note: Below procedure is for 32 bit system having CCS and its database installed in default path. Appropriate changes will be required steps 1 and 3 if CCS and databases are installed in other than default path.

1. 'Start -> Run -> cmd' and then type below command to change working directory -
cd C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\Tools

2. Stop all Symantec CommandCentral Storage and associated processes, by typing the following command:
vx_services_stop.vbs stop force

3) Move the active database files to the desired directory. The new database directory should not contain any files other than the database files you moved there.
For example:
move "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage Data\database\ccstor.db" "<new_drive_letter>:\my_new_dir"
move "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage Data\database\ccstordm.db" "<new_drive_letter>:\my_new_dir"

4. Edit C:\Program Files\VERITAS\VxDBMS3\Server\conf\databases.conf to update the new location of .db files.

5. 'Start -> Run -> regedit' and modify the value of the below registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\Data\DbPath
to reflect new path where .db files are residing - <new_drive_letter>:\my_new_dir\

6. Start all Symantec CommandCentral Storage and associated processes, by typing the following command:
vx_services_start.vbs

Note - For 64 bit system, below changes needs to be considered -
i) Default installation path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage
ii) Path to Dbpath registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\Data\DbPath
