On a Windows Vista system, the 'reconciling volume' step takes an unusually large amount of time to complete.

Solution



During the creation of an incremental image of a Windows Vista volume, the process takes an unusually high amount of time and causes high CPU usage. The incremental eventually completes and the .iv2i file is created.
Workaround:
If a reconcile is taking an excessive amount of time, cancel the job. Start a new job by right mouse clicking on the BESR tray icon and selecting Run or Manage Backups. In the backup job console window, right-button mouse click on the job, and select Run Backup with Options. Select New recovery point set. System resources will then be dedicated to creating the new full backup image that would otherwise be tied up with an excessively lengthy reconcile/incremental.

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue is currently scheduled to be addressed in the next major revision of the product.
