Problem
How to schedule a verification job for Deduplication.
Cause
The Deduplication Backup job with Verify option checked takes long time to complete.
Solution
Scheduling a verification job:
In Backup Exec 2010, a verification job can be scheduled to run at any specified time and not during the backup window. This can be done by creating a new policy with the following settings:
- Add a new backup job template for deduplication job.
- Create a new verification template and associate it with the newly created backup template.
- Set a schedule for the verify template.
The slide above shows a new policy with a deduplication backup job template and a verification template.
Note: The above solution only applies to Backup Exec 2010.
