Issue

Messages being rejected with a "501: Invalid Domain"

Symptoms
Some messages are getting rejected from Symantec Mail Securty for Domino with Premium AntiSpam enabled, without leaving behind any log.

Cause

Section 4.1.2 of RFC 2821 (ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2821.txt) states the underscore is not permited in domain labels for SMTP clients or servers.

Solution

Change the host name to no longer include an underscore.

  1. Add the following line in the notes.ini file to relax the Premium AntiSpam RCF compliance enforcement:
    PASRelaxRFC=1
