Problem
Will Symantec Scan Engine (SSE) and Symantec AntiVirus for Network Attached Storage (SAV for NAS) version 4.3 be supported after End of Support Life on November 12, 2010? Will new virus definitions, which are released after the EOSL date, be checked against version 4.3 of SSE and SAV for NAS?
Solution
Please refer to the Symantec Support Policy at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/Symantec_Support_Policy.pdf.
After EOSL date, Symantec will be offering support with existing solutions, but cases will not be forwarded to the Advanced or Backline teams for further analysis.
Virus definitions released after the EOSL date will not officially be tested by Quality Assurance against the 4.3 product branch. However, as Scan Engine only leverages a sub-set of the full definition data, it is very unlikely that there would be a compatibility issue.
