Symantec Antivirus 10.2 slows load times for the Cisco Clean Access Agent.

Environment

Issue



On Windows Vista with Symantec Antivirus (SAV) 10.2 and Cisco Clean Access Agent installed:

  • After logging into Windows Vista and accepting any UAC prompts it takes approximately 2 minutes for the Cisco Clean Access agent to log in.
  • The Cisco Clean Access Agent icon does not display in the Windows taskbar for approximately 2 minutes after it is first launched on startup of Windows.

Cause



There is a conflict between the Cisco Clean Access Agent, and the startup QuickScan performed by Symantec Antivirus when a user first logs in.


Solution



This issue was resolved by the developers of Cisco Clean Access. Upgrade to the latest version of Cisco Clean Access if possible.

If it is not possible to migrate to the latest version of Clean Access, this issue can be worked around by disabling Startup Quickscans:
