The FileShare and the Composite FileShare agents now allow subdirectory shares and hidden shares.

Solution

VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) for Windows NT 1.2.1 provides new functionality to the FileShare and Composite FileShare agents that allow them to the directory specified as well as its immediate subdirectories. Support for hidden shares has also been added to the FileShare and CompositeFileShare agents.

To allow the FileShare or CompositeFileShare agent to share subdirectories, it is necessary to change the 'ShareSubdirectories' attribute of the agent to true (Figure 1).

Figure 1

The FileShare and CompositeFileShare agents provide two attributes that allow directories to be hidden: 'HiddenShare' and 'HideChildShares' (Figure 2). Setting the 'HiddenShare' attribute to true hides the share specified in the 'ShareName' attribute. Setting the 'HideChildShares' attribute hides the shared directories immediately below the directory specified in 'PathName' attribute.
