With Symantec Scan Engine installed, the following error appears in the Application Log of the Windows Event Viewer: "Faulting application symcscan.exe, version 22.214.171.124, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0004afb2."
In the Application Log of the Windows Event Viewer, one or more of the following events may appear:
- Eventid: 1000

Before contacting support, check the configuration of your filesystem antivirus utility. Misconfigured filesystem antivirus utilities can mask or exaggerate this symptom.
- If present., remove the Email Tools component of Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition client.
- If enabled, disabled the network scanning features of Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition.
- Verify that Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition has been configured to exclude the Temp folder for Scan Engine. By default, this is C:\Program Files\Symantec\Scan Engine\Temp.
