How to install or renew the license for Symantec Scan Engine 5

Issue



Customer failed to install, or renew their Symantec Scan Engine license.


Solution



  1. Delete all files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses except "SSE-CSAPI-License.slf"
    Note: The file of "SSE-CSAPI-License.slf" should NOT be removed.
  2. Install license
    1. Click System->License->Install License;
    2. In the prompted window of “Install License”, click Browser to select the correct license;
    3. Click button of ‘Install’ to install the license.
  3. After installing license, Scan Engine will show the correct information of 'Expiration' and 'Fulfillment ID'





Technical Information
If the customer would like to, they can delete the current Symantec Scan Engine license files by,

Deleting all of the license files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses that pertain to Symantec Scan Engine except "SSE-CSAPI-License.slf". Please keep in mind the Customer could have other Symantec products installed, so do not assume that they are all Symantec Scan Engine License files. You will have to manually open each License file and check to confirm.

Note: The file of "SSE-CSAPI-License.slf" should NOT be removed.
