Symantec is announcing the discontinuation of Symantec Hosted Mail Security 2.0. This discontinuation will become effective on 6, April 2009.
Standard Support for customers with current Support Agreements, for example, Basic Maintenance or Essential Support, will be available until March 31, 2010.
The Symantec Hosted Mail Security service will continue to operate normally and we will continue to support Hosted Mail Security as normal until March 31, 2010. The service will also continue to be updated during that time. After March 31, 2010, the usage of the service is not recommended.
Subscription Expiration after March 31, 2010
- Customers whose Hosted Mail Security subscriptions expire after March 31, 2010 will be migrated to a comparable Symantec MessageLabs service at no charge. They will be able to use the MessageLabs service at no charge until the end of their original Hosted Mail Security subscription. Technical support will be provided via the Symantec Hosted Services support group for these customers.
Subscription Expiration prior to March 31, 2010
- Customers whose Hosted Mail Security subscriptions expire prior to March 31, 2010 will be supported as normal by the Symantec Enterprise Support group through the term of their existing subscription. Content updates such as spam and virus definitions are an embedded component of the service. Thus, the End of Standard Support on March 31, 2010 represents the end of support and complete discontinuation of the service.
Symantec Hosted Mail Security is being discontinued as a result of Symantec's acquisition of MessageLabs. Symantec will be reaching out to each existing customer, through their channel partner, about transitioning to a MessageLabs service.
