SAV for NAS connectivity issue with NetApp Filer. NetApp log shows Error: [cifs.pipe.errorMsg:error]: CIFS: Error on named pipe with : Error connecting to server, open pipe failed

Symptoms
Symantec Antivirus for Network Attached Storage connectivity issues with NetApp filer.




Solution



  1. In the Local Security Policy, add NTAPVSRQ to the list of NullSessionPipes.
  2. If symptoms continue, in the Local Security Policy, enable "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to Anonymous users".
  3. If symptoms continue, reinstall Symantec Antivirus for Network Attached Storage.


To add NTAPVSRQ to the list of NullSessionPipes
  1. Click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy.
  2. Expand Local Policies and click on Security Options.
  3. Scroll down and open Network access: Named Pipes that can be accessed anonymously and add NTAPVSRQ
  4. Restart the computer
  5. Monitor logs for additional occurrences of the error


To enable "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users"
  1. Click Start -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy.
  2. Expand Local Policies and click on Security Options.
  3. Scroll down and double-click "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to Anonymous users"
  4. Click Enabled
  5. Click OK
  6. Restart the computer
  7. Monitor logs for additional occurrences of the error
