Problem
You have noticed that the Symantec Mail Security for SMTP 5 logs state that the antispam license has expired. You look in the control center administration page and see that all licenses read as being licensed and valid. You want to know how to address this because your spam definitions are not updating.
Symptoms
Spam definitions are not updating.
Log files say the license has expired.
The control center says that the licenses are still valid and the product is fully licensed.
Cause
The registration certificate file that the software uses to determine the state of the license data for the software could have gotten damaged.
Solution
To remedy this you will want to remove the licenses from the software, rename the license file and then reregister the software. To do this, please contact Symantec Technical Support for assistance as the process can be delicate and may cause damage to the software if improperly done.
