Cannot Login with Yahoo version 9.0 And Higher When IM Manager Configured With Partner/PassThrough Architecture

Yahoo client version 9.0 and higher fails to login and shows an error message: 81003004

Symptoms
 

  • When debug logging is enabled the IMLinkage.log on the IM Manager Partner server there is a message like the following:

Conditions:
 

  • The IM Manager Passthrough server is not configured to accept Yahoo version 9.0 and higher connections.
    1. Open the IM Manager MMC Snap-In.
    2. Click the Yahoo Agent tab.
    3. The checkbox Yahoo 9.x clients to login not being checked indicates this condition.
  • IM Manager configured in partner/passthrough architecture.
    1. Open the IM Manager MMC Snap-In.
    2. Click the Relay Service Configuration tab.
    3. If the checkbox Use Passthrough Relay is checked then IM Manager is configured as a Partner server.



 


Cause



The IM Manager Passthrough Server has not been configured to accept Yahoo version 9.0 and higher connections.


Solution



Configure the IM Manager Passthrough Server to accept Yahoo version 9.0 and higher connections.
 

    1. From the Symantec IM Manager MMC Snap-in, select the Yahoo Agent tab.
    2. Under Yahoo 9.x Support, check Yahoo 9.x clients to login.
    3. In the IM Manager Listening IP box enter the secondary IP address of the computer.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Restart the IMLogRelayService. NOTE: This causes an outage for public IM use.
