As of 6.0.1 STS now uses SVGA mode by default when connecting to the console. This may be incompatible with older monitors.
You are unable to view the STS display when connected to the console.
As of STS 6.0.1 the default display mode is SVGA.
During boot you’ll see the message “press any key to continue” displayed several times. Hit a key, <ESC> works.
Then it displays “Press <ESC> to enter the menu” for several seconds. Hit <ESC> again before the timeout.
Press ‘e’ to edit the commands.
Press <down-arrow> to highlight the line that begins with “kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-9.22_asrprod”.
Press ‘e’ again.
You’ll see “<coops=1 nmi-watchdog=1” and the cursor will be located at the end of that string. Press the <left-arrow> button until it wraps to the beginning half of the string and you see “grub edit> kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-9.22_asrprod ro root=/dev/sda2 video=vesafb:>” and position the cursor at the beginning of the “video=” string.
Press the <delete> key until “video=vesafb:mtrr:3,ywrap vga=791” is deleted. You should now see: “grub edit> kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-9.22_asrprod ro root=/dev/sda2 console=ttyS0>”
Please note this is a temporary change, to make the change permanent across reboots please contact Symantec Technical Support.
