Problem
This document describes best practices for the Max Server Memory option in SQL Server.
Solution
For performance reasons, Symantec recommends the minimum value of "max server memory" option of SQL Server to be based on the number of clients Symantec Protection Center manages.
- For companies with fewer than 100 agents, the "max server memory" value should be at least 64.
- For companies with between 100 and 500 agents, the "max server memory" value should be at least 512.
- For companies with greater than 500 agents, the "max server memory" value should be at least 1024.
If the configured value of SQL Server does not meet this requirement, a warning message will appear when you install, upgrade, or configure Symantec Protection Center.
If you need to change the max server memory for SQL Server, follow the instructions provided by Microsoft: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178067.aspx.
