How to set persistent drive binding for tape drives in a fibre Storage Area Network (SAN) running Shared Storage Option (SSO) for an AIX media server

Solution

Do NOT configure persistent device binding for AIX servers because it is automatically taken care of by the AIX device database, the Object Data Manager (ODM).

Thus there is no need to configure fibre world-wide-names (WWN) or world-wide-port-numbers (WWPN) for AIX media in an SSO configuration.

AIX media servers will automatically keep persistent device mappings even after a reboot.
