Known issues

This section addresses the known issues at the product release.

General issues

  • If you have set up a Dedicated Offsite Copy task to work with password-protected recovery points, be sure that you enter the passwords into the recovery point password store.

  • When a password-protected recovery point is copied using the Dedicated Offsite Copy task (and later used in other tasks such as Convert to Virtual or Independent Recovery), the password that a user provides is not validated.

  • Recovery points that are published back to Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution must have credentials assigned to the destination where they reside so that they can be used by any solution task.

  • When you use Symantec Installation Manager to install Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution, Symantec System Recovery 2011, and LightsOut Restore 2011 at the same time, you may see a failure reported concerning the LightsOut Restore 2011 installation. In such cases, run Symantec Installation Manager again to install just LightsOut Restore 2011.

To avoid this error altogether, you can do the following instead:

  • To access Notification Server remotely (and the database is remotely configured), you must do the following:

    • In Notification Server console, click Settings > Notification Server > Database settings.

    • Click Use SQL Login.

    • Specify the correct SQL login ID and password.

  • When you upgrade Symantec System Recovery 2011 Linux Edition from version 1.0.x to 2.0, ensure that you upgrade both, the Symantec System Recovery 2011 Linux plug-in and the Symantec System Recovery 2011 Linux agent.

  • After installing Symantec System Recovery 2011 plug-in on a client computer having 64-bit version of Windows 7 or 2008 R2, if you try to install or upgrade Symantec System Recovery 2011, the installation fails. To resolve this issue, after installing Symantec System Recovery 2011 plug-in, restart the computer, and then install or upgrade Symantec System Recovery 2011.

  • While installing the Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution on a computer having Windows 2003, the installation program seems un-responsive for about an hour, however, the installation completes successfully.

Compatibility issues

The following are the compatibility issues that you may encounter:

  • Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution does not support Backup Exec System Recovery 8.0 package deployment and client management. You must upgrade Backup Exec System Recovery 8.0 on client computers to Symantec System Recovery 2011.

  • You cannot run virtual conversion jobs using Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 or 8.5 on client computers having 64-bit Symantec Management Platform Agents. To resolve this issue, either upgrade to Symantec System Recovery 2011 or install 32-bit Symantec Management Platform (SMP) Agents on the client computers.

  • Symantec Management Platform 7.1 does not support Windows 2008 R2 SP1. Hence, you cannot install Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution on a computer having Windows 2008 R2 SP1.

  • Symantec Management Platform does not support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.0. Hence, Symantec System Recovery 2011 Management Solution does not support management of Symantec System Recovery 2011 Linux on client computers having RHEL 6.0.

  • Symantec System Recovery 2011 Linux Management Solution does not support Backup Exec System Recovery Linux 1.0 client management.
