Nope, you can't change the compression ratio. This is dependant on the types of data being backed up (some data can't be compressed anymore, while other already-compressed data might increase in size!), as well as possibly faulty tapes and/or drive. From my experience if oracle link failed, oracle backup will report job failed whith status code 6. The oracle backup job backup scripts output also report media manager layout  failed.   You can check the network connection between Client123 \ SL500-Bserver. The bptm process or bpdm process on the server takes the image from shared memory and directs it to the storage media. most of the NetBackup backup/duplicate jobs need use bptm process. but some jobs like MSSQL/Oracle agent parent jobs should not create bptm process.

Hi There, I mounted the two filers to the backup system Local Drives, then i just backup the data with selecting the backup network drives in the policy. then I restore the backed up data to the new filer and it is completed successfully all data was healthy and permissions as well.   Thanks alot Marianne, for the valuable time you gave to help me in solving this issue.

I found a process flow diagram with detailed description in Appendix A of NetBackup Troubleshooting Guide. In the case of offhost backup, the 'Client Disk' moves to the media server as well as processes associated with 'Client Disk'. Troubleshooting Guide then refers us to Snapshot Client manual for more info. Hope this helps....

Hi, I am adding a 5220 appliance to an existing Netbackup 7.5.0.5 system with a separate Master and Media (both Solaris 10). I wish the 5220 to haver a separate set of drives on the Library. On the library we have defined two different partitions. How ever adding the partition of the 5220 as a STU, ruins the STU of the Solaris. Any body with experience on such configuration?
