Background: As users we are used to accessing applications like calculator, notepad, wordpad, etc by typing the shortcut commands in the RUN window. It is the easiest form of access known to computer users. Thought: So how about accessing the SEP Client GUI the same way?? Notes: Shortcuts like 'calc', 'notepad', 'wordpad' etc are picked up from the "PATH" environment variable by the Windows Operating System. SEP Client uses the 'symcorpui.exe' file to display the GUI on the screen. Implementation: 1. Right Click 'My Computer' & Select Properties 2. In the Advanced Tab select 'Environment Variables' 3. In the 'System Variables' text box scroll down and Highlight 'Path' 4. Choose to Edit 5. Look for Variable Value 6. Without changing the existing contents; at the end of the sting, add the exact path for the 'symcorpui.exe' file. (e.g.: By Default the installation path of the file is "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection") 7. Once done; Click Ok on all the open properties pages. Result: You can now access the SEP client GUI by doing the following easy steps: Start-->Run-->symcorpui-->ENTER :)
