Thanks JMart, this is terrific. I was out at Altiris last week for a little additional pre-release 7.1 training. Obviously, 7.1 provides a lot of uplift for our Altiris customers who have been waiting awhile for this release.
But a couple other big takeways for me from last week were the concerted efforts that Altiris put into documentation and also testing of different design scenarios. Everyone will always want more but the increased emphasis on these important items is greatly appreciated.

The efforts really show in the 7.1 implementation guide. The documentation is excellent so far. Some of the images are a little confusnig to me (where each step of communication is detailed), but it went above and beyond in most cases as I was looking for information.
The link Important things to know when migrating from Notification Server 6.x to Symantec Management Platform 7.1 doesn't work. I could really use this one.
Still under edit. There are other links to resources that are also currently in tech edit.

Thank you for all of the links. I'm assuming the section titled "Previous Migration Page Content" is mostly for older user manuals (Ex: DS 6.9).
Is it possible to migrate from DS 6.9 to 7.1?
There is no migration from DS 6.9 to DS 7.1. You can import the image files as resources on your new server, however, using a utility included in the Tools directory on the 7.1 server. But the jobs and tasks cannot be imported. You can export them as .bin, but this is only compatible with DS 6.x.

Do not use DS 7.1 yet, if you already use DS 6.9, except: need to integrate into a CMDB, reuse existing org.views/filters.
DS 6.9 still supported from Symantec this date, no problem to use with ITMS 7.1: can coexist DS 7.1 (except for the PXE part: must make a choice, because DS 7.1 not able to use "MAC filters" or "delay" like DS 6.9 able to!)

Given the complexity and the issues we initially had when Service Desk 7.0 came out, i was under the impression this was going to be documented as well.
There were A LOT of hidden secrets with installing Service Desk 7.0 and the following document went a long way to making this simpler.

Is anyone aware of something similar to take you from SD 7.0 on Win2003 to SD 7.1 on Win 2008 R2 ?
Those details are in the implementation guide and the release notes.
