This is the latest iteration of what is becoming a favorite at ManageFusion -- the SVS best practices breakout session!

Since SVS 2.1 has shipped, more and more Altiris customers are rolling SVS into production. I had the opportunity this week to speak with several customers who shared their experiences with rollouts, typically in the 1,500 to 4,000 node range. Turns out the best practices we identified early on are holding true. And you guys really seem to be appreciating things like Global Excludes and the improvements in the Wise 7 updates that make it even easier to get it right.

My thanks to all who attended ManageFusion this week, and especially to those SVS customers and partners who took the time to update me on how this amazing product is being used in the field and making desktop application management easier and more cost-efficient!

This presentation covers the following topics:

  • What SVS brings to the table…
  • SVS so far
  • When to deploy SVS
  • SVS client configuration
  • Data management
  • Updating VSP’s
  • Maintaining an SVS client
  • Wise Package Studio
  • SVS Professional
  • Resources for you
  • Not covered: re-packaging best practices

This is one great post. Yes, it makes a lot of sense to me too. If the things go right, it will be a good knowledge earning and I must add it is a great idea.
