Beta Release of Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1.
Announcing the beta release of Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1.
Symantec Workspace Virtualization (SWV) is an application virtualization solution that eliminates the need to install or manage applications on individual devices, making application testing, provisioning, management and support easier and less costly. SWV manages and virtualizes applications for IT administrators to have control and flexibility. SWV is offered as a standalone application virtualization product or sold as part of several Symantec solutions reducing complexity and cost.
New Branding – Previously known as SVS (Symantec Virtualization Solution), Symantec will be rolling out a new naming convention for all of its existing and newly acquired Endpoint Virtualization products. Version 6.1 is now branded Symantec Workspace Virtualization.
We anticipate the beta cycle to run for approximately 3-4 weeks. You may register for this beta under the Tools tab of the beta portal. Once you have complete you testing we invite your product feedback.
We thank you for your interest in our products, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Still no 64 bit Support :(
I was really hoping that this release would have 64 bit support. :(
Eventually
It's a planned feature but didn't make the cut for 6.1. If 64-bit is important to you, and you're a paying customer, then let SWV sales and support know you want it. The more people asking for a feature via those channels the higher it moves up on our priority list.

Personel Version ?
Where can I get the Free for personel use version of Beta ?
Any one please provide us the links.
Thanks,
Swami
better wait for release
I dont think sym will stop providing SVS for personal use. on a contrary, there are few things which a personal user will not require, like creating patches.
Beta is for testing not for personal use as you will observe that there are lot many enhancemnts are done. better wait till SVS (now SWV) gets released.

So SVS is now named Symantec
So SVS is now named Symantec Workspace Virtualization.
Does this include the old SVS Pro (App Stream) too?
Thanks

@ lotsill: I beleive the new
@ lotsill: I beleive the new "Pro" is Symantec Workspace Streaming
@ cgriff54: I agree. Was looking forward to the 64:bit support. As now we have to keep two software packages of all products we are using. SVS for desktops/laptops and MSI for 64bit workstations.
Anyone tried the multiuser support yet? Can I use my old SVS packages in SWV and still use the new functionality?
Answers
The beta is not open to personal use.
SVS is now SWV
Appstream is now SWS
Old layers will work in multi-user enviroments, and that layer will get converted to the 6.1 format, but you cannot take a layer created in 6.1 to 2.1/
