Change The IP Address of the SMG Control Center

Jun 26, 2015 12:35 AM

Usually, the IP address of the Symantec Messaging Gateway Control Center will keep unchanged after the installation. But, in case you must change the IP address of the appliacen that is hosting your Control Center, you must change the IP address of the Control Center host firstly, then run the agent-config command from each Scanner's command line interface to re-allow connections from the new Control Center host IP to that Scanner.

Here are the detail steps:

1. Log into SMG Control Center from web concole as admin account;

2. Click 'Administration' --> 'Host' --> 'Configuration', click to select the Control Center from the host list:

8. Run the command "agent-config -d 10.200.55.30" to delete the old IP address, then run the command "agent-config -a 10.200.55.40" to add the new IP address of the Control Center:

Hi Dear,

This is not a simple Linux box, so changing the IP from the command-line is not supported. There are many settings files that the IP address needs changed in, so it is not feasible without a GUI to change all of the necessary files.

Is there no way of changing the ip without GUI.  If not, symantec really needs to fix this fast.  10 years of brightmail and still NO supported way to change IP's thru command line.  All other companies allow it.

thanks

You would just follow steps 1-4 for changing a scanner's IP.
