Creating Packaging Process Templates in Wise Package Studio
When I joined this forum, I was searching for Wise Package Studio Process Templates [in fact sample templates] so that I don't have to start from the scratch. But i couldn't get any information on on how to create Process Templates.
Process Template is an essential part, when you actually configure Wise Package Studio for your Organization for Application Packaging. Every Organization has their own Packaging process that they wanted to implement in the form of Process template in Wise Package Studio.
So this Article describes how you can start building your own Process template according to your Organization's needs. You can also make use of the sample Template that i have created and attached to this article so that you don't have to start afresh. You just have to Import the Template into Wise Package Studio and edit it accordingly and start packaging.
Steps involved in creating a Fresh Packaging Process Template:
Open Wise Package Studio -> Edit menu -> select Process Templates.
Create new Process Template by clicking on Add Process icon [ icon with letter P]. Also create a Task by click clicking on Add task [icon with letter T].
You can also import a Process Template [.WPR file]
Right clicking on the sample process template -> Select "Import From File..." -> Locate and select WPR file.
Rename Template name accordingly and enter Process Notes.
You can create your own Process Template in the form of TASKS and SUB TASKS depending upon your Organization's packaging process.
There are several types of TASKS, such as
- Header [Header Task]
- Manual [Manual Task]
- Workbench Tool [Task which will make use of specific Workbench Tool]
- Other EXE [Task which will make use of other executables]
- Pre-defined Application [Task which will make use of Pre-defined applications in the Machine]
You can create process documents in HTML and make use of them in your Process [Task Help]. You can also enter step by step process manually using Rich Text option.
In case the Task is associated with one of the Workbench Tools, select the type of Tool from the drop down and associated Option to it. You can also specify whether to update the Project Status upon task completion.
Make use of Move Left and Move Right arrow keys to mark SUB TASKS.
Make use of Move Up and Move Down arrow keys to move TASKS up and down in order.
Once you are done with Process Template, you can save and export the Template by the following:
Right clicking on the Process Template -> Select "Export To File..." -> Save .WPR file
Now you can make use of this Template as a Default Template.
