Had the same issue and what eventually had worked for me is:

1. copy all files of the "c:\Program Files\Symantec\Endpoint Encryption Clients\Drive Encryption" to the root of the "C:\eede" (not the subfolder)

2. Run the "eedpe.bat winpe.wim c:\eede" command in the command prompt which was "ran as Administrator"

thats correct.

That means we need 2 recovery disks for each OS 1 for 32bit and 1 for 64bit?

Nov 21, 2016 07:45 AM

its required for the per OS

Hi Guys,

When creating a WinPE image for system recovery, do we have to create individual images for each and every PC or only for OS versions? For an instance let's say we have 12 PCs as described below.

2 - windows 10 64bit

2 - windows 10 32bit

2 - windows 8.1 64bit

2 - windows 8.1 32bit

2 - windows 7 64bit

2 - windows 7 32bit

Do we have to make 12 images or 6 images as in 2 images for every OS(64bit and 32bit)?

I am following the steps and it's not working. I'm trying to figure out why.

I think You Should try it on a different machine, and kindly verify the working. :)

It works fine for me you just need to follow the steps and you are good to go

I've tried using a different Windows ADK and now when running the eedpe.bat winpe.wim c:\eede command.

The error is "c:\eede is missing some crucial program files needed for recvoery"

I've checked the TECH223783 and I've copied the files it says to into that folder. Any ideas?

You could try clean installation then.

This was the only error I've gotten in the process of creating the PE CD.

Unfortunately this is the only test PC I have to try and create this on for the time being.

Hi Average Joe,

I think there should be some error in Installation of Deployment and Imaging Wizard.

did you try the same in any other system.?

Hardeepsinh

I followed the TECH223783 guide originally and got the same results.

Jul 15, 2016 03:14 PM

This wasn't updated for 11.1.0.  From the 11.1.0 guide:

From a computer running Drive Encryption, copy the following files and transfer them to the c:\eede folder on a computer installed with Windows ADK.
■ C:\Program Files\Symantec\Endpoint Encryption Clients\Drive Encryption\*
■ %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers\eed*.sys
■ %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\shfolder.dll
■ %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers\PGPce.*

Note: The PGPce files are available only on Windows systems running Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.1.0 or later.

https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH223783.html has the official technote/guide.

Whenever I run the 'eedpe.bat winpe.wim c:\eede' command in step 5 I keep getting this error message:

"ERROR!!! C:\eede is missing some critical program files needed for recovery"

I've gone through from the beginning a few times with the same result. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
