Downloading the ITMS 7.1 Symantec Management Console UI add-ons

After you install Notification Server and you first run the Symantec Management Console, there are a couple of Internet Explorer add-ons that you must download and install to use the interface.

Installing the NSConsole.cab add-on

  1. When you first launch the console, Internet explorer displays the following message.
    This website wants to install the following add-on: ‘AltirisNSConsole.cab’ from ‘Symantec Corporation’. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to install it click here…
  2. Click the message.
    Click Install This Add-on for All Users on This Computer…
  3. In Internet Explorer – Security Warning dialog, verify that the Name field says: AltirisNSConsole.cab and the Publisher field says: Symantec Corporation and click Install.

Installing the Microsoft Silverlight add-on

  1. In the Symantec Management Console, click the Install Microsoft Silverlight image.

    If Internet Explorer displays the warning “Security Alert Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded.” do the following:

    - In Internet Explore go to Tools > Internet Options.
    - Click the Security tab.
    - Select theInternet zone.
    - Click Custom level.
    - Under Downloads, enable Automatic prompting for file downloads


    - Click the Install Microsoft Silverlight image again.
  2. In the File Download – Security Warning dialog, verify that the Name is Sliverlight.exe from silverlight.dlservice.microsoft.com. and click Run.
  3. In the Install Silverlight dialog click Install now.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Close.

To download Adobe Reader to view documentation in .PDF format

 

  1. Go to: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
  2. Click Download now.
  3. If Internet Explorer displays warning preventing you from downloading Adobe Reader do the following:
    - In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options.
    - Click the Security tab.
    - Click Internet.
    - Click Custom level…
    - In the Security Settings – Internet Zone dialog, under ActiveX controls and plug-ins Under Download signed ActiveX controls select Prompt (recommended).

    - Click OK.
    - Click Apply.
    - Click OK.
  4. Verify the download is from Adobe Systems Incorporated, then click Install.
  5. Follow the instructions in the Adobe's installation wizard, then close the download manager.
