Extra Backslash After Creating Image Causes Error and Image Deployment to Fail
Created: 20 Feb 2013 | 1 comment
After creating an image, under the Package and Package server tabs, it adds an extra backslash (\) to the Package location (ie “\\deploymentserver\\deployment\...” instead of “\\deploymentserver\deployment...”.
Attempting to deploy this image fails. In the logs, around every 10 minutes, there is a warning for: “Unable to manage the distribution points for package “imagename.gho” (Guid {}).
To resolve, remove the extra slash from the Package and Package Server tabs. Check the site servers and perform an update to allow them to update the package.
Found on Management Platform 7.1 SP2 MP1 Rollup V2... not sure what other versions this applies to, or if it is a known issue.

To make the corrrection using Symantec Management Console v7.1:
Settings >All Settings >Deployment and Migration >Disk Images
In the right side pane, Package Tab you can see and correct Package Location as needed.
