To Activate a CCS-VM Scan Engine follow the below steps :
1. Go to CCSVM installation directory C:\Program Files\Symantec\CCSVM\nsc\licenses of CCSVM server (Console + Scan engine) and copy the license file (.lic file).
2. Now Go to CCSVM installation directory C:\Program Files\Symantec\CCSVM\nsc\licenses of CCSVM Server (Only Scan Engine) and Paste the license file (.lic file).
3. Now Restart the CCSVM Scan Engine Services. Open cmd box, type services.msc and restart CCS vulnerability manager security console and CCS vulnerability manager PostgreSql Server.
4. Go to CCSVM installation directory C:\Program Files\Symantec\CCSVM\nsc of CCSVM Scan Engine and double click on nsc.bat file.
5. Find the ID number of the Symantec Control Compliance Suite Vulnerability Manager Console that you want to pair the engine with by typing the following command:
show consoles
This command lists all of the consoles associated with the scan engine. The host IP address of the console on which you added the scan engine appears in the list with an ID number assigned by the scan engine.
6. To enable the console, type the following command:
enable console 1 ( 1 is ID number assigned by scan engine )
A message indicates that the console has been enabled, and the enabled parameter for the console changes to "1".
7. Now go back to your CCSVM server (console + Scan engine). Login into CCSVM, then Click on Administration Tab.
8. Click Create CCS Vulnerability Manager Scan Engine.
9. Enter Scan Engine Name (CCSVM TEST in my case).
10. Enter Engine Address. You have to enter IP address of server where you install only CCSVM Scan Engine (192.168.42.66 in my case) and Click Save.
11.Now you are able to view Scan Engine name under Scan Engine list. Status of Scan Engine is still unknown..
12. Click Refresh button and now Scan Engine is Active.
Now you are able to scan sites through newly install remote scan engine.
