How to import SEP 11.x package into SEPM 12.1

Feb 24, 2012 09:28 AM

Hi,

Logon to the SEPM console

Admin --> Install Pacakge --> Client Install Package --> Add a Client Install Package

Browse to the SEP 12.1 RU1 setup files, Go to the Additional Packages folder, you will find  SAVLegacy32.info, select that file

Give Specific name & Description.

Monitor Import Package Process, it may take few minutes.

We can see now SEP RU7 package is successfully added. It's a SEP RU7 32 bit setup file.

SEP 11.x package is useful if you still have Windows 2000 operating Systems. Because SEP 11.x supports Windows 2000 platform

SEP 12.1 doesn't support windows 2000.

Hello,

SEP 11.0.2 is very old version and it's not advisable to add this package if using latest version of SEP.

Do you see any challenge in bandwidth utilization? if yes please describe it.

Semantic does suggest to use the latest version of SEP.

thank you,

Can I manage SEPM 11 from SEPM12 like additional manager or child manager as we do in Windows server (Additional/Child Domain Controller) or it is not availlable?

Hi,

SEPM 11 can not manage SEP 12.1 clients.

Hello.

Is it possible to do the opposite?

To have the SEPM servers on version 11.x and to import a SEP 12.1 package into it.

I'm concerned for certain issues that might be caused.
